Carpetland USA Flooring Center Supports Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth

Donation of cardboard helps to make the Amazing Boat Race a hit

Racine, WI September 8, 2017 – At a recent summer camp for burn injured youth, Carpetland USA Flooring Center was the proud sponsor of one of the most exciting events of the week: An Amazing Race that included a cardboard boat race. Carpetland donated all the necessary cardboard to help build some astonishing vessels.

Campers and staff were assigned to teams as they built sea-worthy boats large enough to carry two people. Carpetland’s cardboard was folded into a variety of shapes, rolled into tubes, and covered with yards of duct tape. Teams then competed to see who could keep their boats afloat the longest.

The camp was offered by The Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation and held for a week in August. Camp Timber-lee in East Troy gives burn injured youth a unique experience that promotes confidence, self-esteem, emotional healing, and fun.

Dave Brown, President of Carpetland, stated, “We are proud to support such an important organization. Carpetland’s Giving Back program reflects how much our employees care about our community.”

But Carpetland’s philanthropy doesn’t stop at summer camp. They are also a corporate partner of the American Heart Walk in both Milwaukee and Racine, as well as sponsoring an employee who is participating in a walk for Children’s Hospital.

Founded in 1995, Carpetland USA Flooring Center now has six locations in Southeastern Wisconsin. They are dedicated to offering the best selection, the best prices, and the best service in the area. Carpetland USA Flooring Center offers a wide range of flooring products from a variety of manufacturers.
